How did we get started?

Gallaher Construction was started by James Gallaher in 1973.  Jim was a shop teacher employed by the Webster School District and started the company when he began doing side work on weekends and during the summer vacations.  He provided a wide range of services , everything from small handyman repairs to new house construction.

Over the years Jim's sons, Jim Jr. and Steve began working with him.  Both boys started young, working at age 10 as gophers and learning the trades as they grew up. Jim Jr. graduated high school and joined the Air Force while Steve went on to further his education at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi. After receiving an A.A.S. degree in Construction Technology in 1996, Steve attended the College of Environmental Science & Forestry at Syracuse University where he completed his studies with a Bachelors degree in Construction Management in 1998.

Upon graduation, Steve went to work for a large commercial construction company in Rochester.  In 2002, Steve went back to his roots at Gallaher Construction, working with his father.

In 2006, Jim was injured while in service of the Lincoln Fire Department.  This injury left him unable to work.  Steve stepped in and took over the company as the President of Gallaher Construction.  Steve has continued the company name and tradition and still works with a lot of "Jim's customers" as well as many new ones over the years.
